The Bruce Rogers Collection

Collection of books designed by the 20th century typographer and designer, Bruce Rogers

The Divine Comedy

Bruce Rogers designed The Divine Comedy, one of his major works, when he was 85 years old.  Again using his Centaur type, this time in 18 point, rogers also designed the volume with illustrations which he re-drew from Botticelli's silverpoint drawings.  An exquisite work, even Rogers called it "the most important book of my life."  (from the prospectus for the work.)  Our copy is number 3 of the limited edition of 300 which were printed.  Bruce Rogers kept number 1, and the owner of the press, A. Colish, kept number 2.)
