Art on the Davidson College Campus: Featured Sculptors and Artists

About Tavares Strachan

Tavares Strachan (b. 1979) is a contemporary Bahamian artist whose works combine art with science, politics, and history. Drawing on his interests in astronomy, climatology, and arctic exploration, to name a few, Strachan's installations explore themes of displacement and marginalization to inspire societal mobilization and bring light to suppressed historical narratives. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and Yale University, Strachan has been featured in many solo and group exhibitions across the globe and has received numerous awards and fellowships.
