Art on the Davidson College Campus: Featured Sculptors and Artists

About Vivian Beer

Vivian Beer (b. 1977) is an American sculptor and furniture designer, born in Bar Harbor, ME and currently based in New England. She describes her work as being "sleek, abstracted metal and concrete furniture [that] combines the aesthetic sensibilities of contemporary design, craft, and sculpture to create furniture that alters expectations of and interfaces with the domestic landscape." Inspired by architecture and American industrial history, Beer's works serve as "intellectual bridges for their users, bringing them to a new way of conceiving the built world through a luxurious deployment of the senses." She has received various grants, awards, and residencies for her work, and has participated in both group and solo exhibitions.
