About Bethany Collins

Bethany Collins (b. 1984) is a multidisciplinary artist from Alabama. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a BA in Studio Art and Photojournalism and Georgia State University with an MFA in Drawing and Painting, and served as the 2019 Public Humanities Practitioner-in-Residence at Davidson College. She focuses on language as "both her subject and primary material—from dictionaries and encyclopedias to literary journals and newspaper archives... through which she explores American history and the nuanced development of racial and national identities."
