Art on the Davidson College Campus: Featured Sculptors and Artists

About Aristides Demetrios

Aristides (Aris) Burton Demetrios (1932-2021) was born and raised in Massachusetts. After graduating from Harvard and serving three years in the Navy, he studied sculpture and created his own distinct style. He often entered national sculpture competitions, with one of his biggest achievements being the "The White Memorial Fountain" seen at Stanford University, among others. Although Demetrios passed away in 2021, his legacy as an accomplished and renowned artist continues to live on.
