How to Find Newspapers

Davidson College provides access to The New York Times to all current faculty, students, and staff through a site license. This offer comes to us through Center for Research Libraries and it is thanks to our membership with CRL that we are able to join the offer.

Details of the Site License:

• You will have a free personal account to NYTimes.com with unlimited access and Reading List
• Archives access from 9/18/1851-12/31/2002
• Podcasts such as The Daily, and access to Live Events
• Access to the New York Times via web or mobile app
• Teaching and learning content for faculty at inEducation

NOTE: Premium apps such as Games, Cooking, Wirecutter, etc. are NOT included.  If you would like to take advantage of the free Davidson College access, but add the premium apps at an additional cost to you, contact the NYT.

All new and existing registered users who want to take advantage of the Davidson College site license should visit nytimes.com/activate-access/sso. NOTE: Single Sign On is used to verify Davidson credentials.

1. Click on nytimes.com/activate-access/sso
2. Enter your personal or davidson.edu email address then click continue.
3. If this is a new registration, create a password; if you are already registered, use your existing password.
4. Once you click "Create Account" or "Log In" you will be asked to validate your credentials as a Davidson community member via Davidson College Single Sign-On.
5. Enter your Davidson College email address, click Continue and be directed to the NY Times home page.
6. You will now be able to enjoy NYTimes.com from any location, on any web enabled device, by just logging into NYTimes.com

Existing registered subscribers with ACTIVE PAID subscriptions who would like to cancel their subscription and use only Davidson’s Site License will need to cancel their personal subscription in order to take advantage of the school’s program. 

The best way to do this is to use the NYT app. For more options, visit the NYT resource page: Cancel Your Subscription

Once you have cancelled your subscription, visit https://www.nytimes.com/activate-access/sso, log in using your existing NYT username and password, and follow the steps from Step 4 above.
