Please note the following changes to Portico Pickup for Spring 2021:

  • Starting February 2, 2021, library staff will fill Portico Pickup requests daily between 8 am and 9 am. Your materials can be picked up 24/7 on carts inside the library's front entrance.
  • Please note, requests made after 9 am will not be available until the following business day (Monday for requests submitted over the weekend).

What is Portico Pickup?

Following Davidson's guidelines for health and safety (www.davidson.edu/fall-2020/health-and-safety), Portico Pickup is the Library's new, contactless service that allows you to request materials from our collection while maintaining appropriate social distancing!

Who can use it?

Our Portico Pickup service is available for students, staff, and faculty!

When is Portico Pickup available?

Starting February 2, 2021, library staff will fill Portico Pickup requests daily between 8am and 9am. Your materials can be picked up 24/7 on carts inside the library's front entrance.

How does Portico Pickup work?

  • Browse the library catalog (https://www.davidson.edu/library) and request the item(s) you need.
  • Staff will retrieve your item(s) and you will receive a notification via email when your item(s) are available for pick up.
  • Instructions for pick up will be included in the email notification.
  • Your item(s) will be carefully wrapped, labeled, and placed on book carts inside the library's front entrance.
  • You will have three (3) business days to retrieve your item(s) before we return them to the shelves.
  • If you are unable to visit campus during regular business hours, your item(s) will be available inside the front entrance to the library. You will need your CatCard to enter the building.

What can I request?

At this time, you are only able to request items in the library's regular circulating collection.

Faculty who have specific questions about resource availability or who need special delivery arrangements are encouraged to contact the library (library@davidson.edu).

How long will it take to get my items?

Starting 2/2/2021: Library staff will fill Portico Pickup requests between 8am and 9am, Monday-Friday. 

You will receive email notifications with instructions with pick up times and locations. Please allow at least one hour after receiving these notifications before picking up your item(s).

Please note, requests made after 9:00am will not be available until the following business day (Monday for requests submitted over the weekend).
