President's House - Louisiana

Louisiana was built as a home for the second Davidson College president, Samuel Williamson.  He originally lived in the President's House, but it was not to his liking and a fundraising effort resulted in the building of Louisiana in 1850.  It was located at the corner of Griffith Street and Main Street (where the VAC now stands).  Davidson College presidents lived in Louisiana until 1887; after that time, it was used as a faculty home and residence hall.  It was demolished in 1934.
