The Davidson College Cemetery is located on North Main Street in Davidson. It was started by Davidson in 1838 for the burial of people connected to the school; the earliest burials were for two young daughters of Robert Hall Morrison, the first president of Davidson College. Twelve students are buried in this cemetery and many of their graves have markers erected by the Eumenean and Philanthropic Literary Societies. After the 1880s, the cemetery was opened for residents of the Town of Davidson, but it remains under control of the college.
