There are two ways to download the eBooks for your course: Downloading to Adobe Digital Editions (an eReader) or Downloading PDFs of Chapters
If you have any questions about the instructions, make sure to ask a librarian.
Use these steps to download and checkout books that have long loan periods. For instance, you can download and checkout Markets Over Mao and Beyond the Middle Kingdom for 365 days, which means you can have them checked out for the entirety of your trip.
The other eBooks, The Third Revolution and China's Political System, can only be checked out for only 21 days. It is better to download these as pdfs of separate chapters, since these files will note expire.
Follow the steps below to learn how to download an eBook and read it on Adobe Digital Editions:
At this stage, you will be prompted to log-in using your Davidson credentials if you have not yet done so
After you click the download button, complete the three download prompts:
Use this option for books that have short check-out periods. By downloading the chapters as separate PDFs you will have permanent versions of the texts, and will not have to worry about them expiring mid-trip.
Note: If you would like to use Adobe Digital Editions to read the chapter PDFs, you can drag the file into Adobe Digital Editons.
One of the books for this course, Networking China: The Digital Transformation of the Chinese Economy, is available through Project Muse. You will need to download the Introduction, Conclusion, and Chapter Three.
