Physical Resources

Course reserve requests for physical materials already in our collection can be requested from the catalog.

Sign in to your Library Account using Davidson Single Sign-on
Search the library catalog for the item you would like on reserve
Click on the item you want to request. Under the 'Availability' section, select 'Course Reserve Request'
This button will link to a Google form where you can submit the information to have the item placed on Course Reserve for your course

Requesting course materials through the Library Catalog will pre-fill the form information for you. You may alternatively bookmark the Course Reserve Request Form to submit course requests.

Physical Course Reserves are located in Lilly Family Gallery, with checkout available for up to 3 hours at a time.

Requesting Course Resource Support

The Davidson College Library proudly offers an electronic course resource support model to provide students with safe and equitable access to the materials they need for their courses. The library will work with you to make electronic course materials available via Leganto/Moodle. In some cases, availability or copyright restrictions may restrict us from placing electronic resources in Leganto or Moodle. In those cases, we are happy to assist you with finding alternatives.

Submit a Purchase Request from the item record in the catalog to request the library purchase an eBook or physical resource to make available to all students.	Submit a Digitization Request from the item record in the catalog to request a digital scan of a book chapter or article through Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery.	Submit a Digitization Request from the item record in the catalog, or submit the request directly in the streaming platform, to request a streaming version of a film or audio file.
Suggest a Purchase* What to Expect Library staff will check holdings and purchase options for a multi-user eBook You have the additional option of requesting the library add the eBook to a Course reading list, which is discoverable in the catalog and searchable via Moodle If a multi-user eBook is unavailable, we will contact you and recommend requesting select chapters from the book through ILL, or discuss placing a print copy on physical reserve	Book Chapter & Article Request What to Expect Library staff will either scan sections from materials in the library or request them from another library Can typically request ~3 chapters from a book Once the request is complete, library staff will send you a link Faculty will be responsible for sharing the link with students and addressing any copyright considerations Please email any copyright questions to library@davidson.edu.	Video Digitization Requests What to Expect Library staff will explore whether we have the film or audio available streaming or if it can be legally digitized for your course If the request can be filled, library staff will send a link to the streaming video for your course in Moodle. Note: To ensure sufficient time to process a streaming video request, we kindly ask that you submit requests with *14 days' notice* before materials are needed for classroom use. Submissions will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. If a DVD must be purchased to fulfill the request, this will extend the processing time.
