In keeping with Davidson's commitment to the quest for truth, the Commission on Race and Slavery will assist the college community in building a comprehensive understanding of the college's own history, which is intertwined with the institution and legacies of slavery and the lives of enslaved persons.
The Davidson Microaggressions Project aims to achieve the following objectives:
Raise awareness about campus climate as experienced by diverse members of the College community
Demonstrate how microaggressions manifest around campus and the broader communities in which we live and work.
Define and describe microaggressions and provide a space for resources and additional information on relevant topics.
Developed by team members in the Division of Student Life to provide students with resources to support active engagement in dismantling systems of oppression in our communities, this document is organized by ways we can learn, reflect and act.
Work in progress. We will be adding to this site on a continuous basis.
Fostering Inclusivity and Respect in Science Together (FIRST) aims for Davidson to build our inclusive capacity to engage all students in science, especially those who are new majority students or come to college via non-traditional pathways. We aim to change the way we do business, we aspire to remove barriers, to be more welcoming, and to help make science and scientists more diverse.
This booklet gathers information shared at summer 2020 FIRST events by briefly summarizing take-home messages and action items that are essential components of creating change to make more inclusive learning environments for all students in and beyond STEM.
