How to Find Newspapers

Microfilm Readers

The microfilm readers are located on the ground floor under the President's Portraits.

The readers allow you to view and scan electronic copies of the microfilm.

Detailed instructions about the microfilm reader are located directly adjacent to the machine.

What is Microfilm?

Microfilm are reels of film that contain photgraphed copies of a newspaper. Since they are small (for ideal storage) they require the use of Microfilm Readers to read.

Locating Microfilm

In the Davidson Library Catalog, an item on microfilm will be located in the Main Library Microfom section and have a Cabinet number in place of a Call Number.

For instance:

Location Status Call Number
Main Library Microform Available Cabinet C-5, C-6

The microfilm cabinets are located in the basement of the library. Find the corresponding Cabinet number, and look for the box that matches the dates you need.
