How to Do a Blank (All-Format) Search

All-format searches let you browse every library holding of a chosen format and/or language. To do a blank search, use the library catalog's "advanced search" function. Once you've clicked on "advanced search," follow the steps below:

  1. Select your preferred "material type," language, and date-range from the filters on the left. Select your preferred "search location" on the top.
  2. Type "*" in the search bar (be sure to include the quotations).

For example, let's assume you wanted to view every French movie held by the Davidson library. Under the "advanced search" menu, you would select the "Video/Film" and "French" filters. You would then select "Davidson College Library" under search location. Finally, you would type "*" in the search bar.
