How to Place a Hold on a Print Book

Placing holds on physical library books is done through the Library Catalog. The steps to do this are listed below:

Step One: Go to the Davidson Library Catalog, and enter the book's title into the search bar. Make sure to filter your results by "books in print."Filtering on the Davidson Library Catalog

Step Two: Click on the book you want to request. The book's page should pull itself up. Under the "availability" header, click on the "request" button. You will have to sign into the Library Catalog using your Davidson credentials to view this page.

Step Three: The Davidson Library will email you when your book is ready to be picked up via portico pickup. You have three days to pick up your requested book before it is returned to the library shelves.

Note:

Sometimes you may need to check out a book that is already loaned out. If this book is not due back soon, you may be well-suited to request a copy of it through Inter-Library Loan
