As stated on the Davidson College Commission on Race and Slavery website:
"If you would like to stay up to date on the work of the committee(s) by adding your name to our mailing list, or if you have other questions,
please use this form or email
The college website states this trustee and non-trustee committee was formed to "engage broadly with the Davidson College community to recommend a visible and appropriate commemoration, including the possibility of commissioning a work of art, on campus to honor the contributions of enslaved people and others whose labor was exploited." As part of this process, the committee announced in 2023 the selection of a commemorative artwork to be constructed between Oak and Elm Rows.
The college website states this trustee committee "was formed to develop a process and policies that will guide how the college names buildings, spaces, funds and campus programs." As part of this process, the committee drafted and approved a Naming Policy in 2022.
In August 2020, the Commission released their final report which included a timeline of the college’s relationship to systemic racism and the presence and contributions of Black people at Davidson College since its founding.
