Artist Books

The Rare Book Room includes a collection of Artist Books, dating from the late 1920s to the present. All are limited editions; some are one-of-a kind, and all are beautiful. Here are some of the titles in our collection.

Margaret Kaufman

The poet, Margaret Kaufman, has taught at the Fromm Institute at the University of San Francisco  She leads poetry workshops, and edits both fiction and poetry.

Originally published: Newark, Vermont : Janus Press, 1988.
A mass-produced version of the original limited edition of 150 copies. Five-sided, multicolored book designed to look like a series of quilting squares, with each page a different color and shape. As the pages are turned one word or phrase from the page before remains visible; issued in 2 square slipcases.
