Note: Research support is available to Davidson College students, faculty, and staff only. If you are not affiliated with the college, please note that the librarians can only answer questions about the following: U.S. Government information and/or federal government documents on deposit in our library; Davidson College; materials that are unique to Davidson College. We regret that we cannot provide other types of reference assistance to unaffiliated users.
Research Consultations
Meet one-on-one with a research librarian to discuss strategies and possible information sources for research projects, class assignments, papers, presentations, honors theses, and the like. Meetings usually last thirty minutes to an hour.
We offer two types of consultations:
Drop-in Consultations
No appointment needed! Just come by the information desk during the following times and let the Information Assistant know that you would like a drop-in consultation.
For the fall 2012 semester, drop-in consultations are available:
- Monday: 1:00-2:00 pm; 4:00-5:00 pm
- Tuesday: 1:00-5:00 pm
- Wednesday: 1:00-5:00 pm
- Thursday: 1:00-5:00 pm

Note: drop-in consultation are available on a first come, first served basis. If you need a consultation at another time, please make an appointment.
Scheduled Consulations
Not free during drop-in or research rescue hours? You can make an appointment with a librarian; just complete the Research Consultation Request form.
Note: use Internet Explorer or Firefox to complete the form.
The form does not work well with Chrome.
Be sure that:
- You have at least two or more days before your project is due.
- You already have a defined topic approved by your professor.
- You have started your research and have a working bibliography.
Please note: Research consultations can be scheduled Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. only. Please allow 24-48 hours for a librarian to respond to your request and schedule the consultation.
