Films on Demand: Master Academic Collection

Find documentaries and educational videos on many subjects. Includes Oscar, Emmy and Peabody award winning content.
Films on Demand offers many titles that are not easily discoverable in the Library's catalog. Search the provider's platform for best results.
Public Performance Rights are included with all Films on Demand titles for no charge viewings.

Library of Congress Digital Collections
A rich collection of primary sources related to U.S. history and culture; materials are drawn from the Library of Congress and other research libraries. Includes digitized manuscripts, government documents, pamphlets, and books as well as photographs, prints, maps, sheet music, video clips, and sound files.

Licensed image collections

Listed below are some databases with licensed images. Remember that many of these are for educational use only; be sure to read the terms of use for each database!

Associated Press Images Collection (EBSCO)
(1826 to present) The Associated Press Images Collection™ is a primary source database from the Associated Press (AP), one of the oldest and largest news organizations in the world. Over 12 million photographs from the Associated Press, the largest news organization in the world. Also includes diagrams, charts, maps, and timelines as well as audio clips (1920s to present) and news briefs (1997 to present). Updated daily.
Photographs and graphics from AP Images cannot be sold, syndicated, loaned or used for advertising or for trade without the written consent of AP. In addition, users cannot republish any of the photographs on a Web page.
Artstor/JSTOR Digital Library
The Artstor Digital Library is a database of high quality images for use in the humanities.
Images are also accessible through the JSTOR platform. Spring 2024 this database will relocate to the "J" page and accessible through JSTOR.

CC Search
A portal for searching sites that contain images with Creative Commons (CC) licenses. Search engines include Flickr, Fotopedia, Google Images, and Open Clip Art Library; not all images in these search engines have CC licenses, but the default search in this portal is for licensed images. The site states, "Do not assume that the results displayed in this search portal are under a CC license. You should always verify that the work is actually under a CC license by following the link...If you are in doubt you should contact the copyright holder directly, or try to contact the site where you found the content."
